London, June 12 (ANI): With a career spanning five decades, Director and screenwriter Shyam Benegal is today considered as the father of new wave cinema, and so it was only befitting that the 77 year old was honored with the South Asian Cinema Foundation s Excellence in Cinema Award in London. Dr Jaimini, wife of the Indian High Commissioner to the UK, presented the award to Benegal at the British Film Institute. An elated Benegal said that he feels good that his work has been recognized.
