Rohit comes to meet Avinash at the hospital and after the initial formalities talks to him at length about his relationship with Shivani. Rohit admits he has always held him in very high esteem and perhaps it was fitting he be rewarded with a wife as sensitive as Shivani. He dwells on their mistakes, and the punishment meted out by fate to him. However, he assures Avinash that theirs was a purely platonic relation with lust never ever figuring in their priorities. Avinash returns his bouquet of compliments to Rohit and is honest enough to say that he realized very early he will always occupy the No.2 slot in Shivani s life but that has not diminished his admiration for an artist of Rohit s calibre and he suggests they begin a new relation as friends! Simultaneously, Vijay takes Shivani to task for lying about her relation with Rohit but she is unruffled and tells him she married Avinash as she loved him far too much to go against his wishes but today she can proudly claim she loves only Avinash and thanks him for introducing him to her. Later that night Avinash is strangely cold after he returns and tells Shivani he thought and spoke only about her the whole day. Recounting Rohit s visit, he expresses his amazement at how we choose to imprison the person we love the most to unpredictable imagination!
Film Shoppe’s ‘Sailaab’ written & directed by Ravi Rai, is essentially love story between Shivani (Renuka Shahane) & Rohit (Sachin Khedekar). Rohit, is an aspiring novelist & writer who soon dicovers how cruel this city of dreams can be. Hailing from Calcutta, he switches tracks & starts writing for films once he falls in love with Shivani. Shivani’s elder brother Vijay (Raju Kher) sings his praises & appreciates his intellect till he finds out that he is in love with his sister! Vijay, like all brothers, is keen to see Shivani settled with a person who is financially sound & the idealisitic writer in pursuit of an elusive dream doesn't inspire much confidence!
Shivani gets married to a doctor Avinash (Ajikya Deo/Mahesh Thakur) who is extremely wealthy too. Rohit tie the knot in court with Gayatri on the rebound almost. But to Gayatri’s credit, she stood by Rohit when he was in a most vulnerable phase having just lost his father & still in a fluid stage as far as his career is concerned. Past & present intermingle freely to say nothing of frequently as Shivani, Rohit & Gayatri mull over their past & contemplate their future with an intensity that makes their old friends like Vicky (Bhushan Jeevan), Nilu (Neelofer) & Girish (Makrand Deshpande) nervous & fear a momentous storm brewing! Do their fears prove to be true or do Shivani & Rohit live happily ever after with their respective spouses?
