The story of Hitler Didi revolves around Indira, who stays in Chandni Chowk along with her family. Indira, the eldest daughter runs the household ever since her father abandoned their family. Facing the difficulties of life, Indira has no time for enjoyment and spends the life catering to her family's daily needs and wants. The day begins with Indira waking her 7-8 year-old nephew, Ishaan for school. Ishaan wishes that the tough disciplinarian Indira should have been sweet and nice. Indira learns from her sister-in-law that her younger sister, Mandira was on the terrace. Unlike Indira, Mandira lives life to the fullest and is not concerned about the future. She is busy conversing on the phone with her boyfriend. The duo plans to meet next to the lake. Indira gets irritated when she sees Mandira conversing over the phone. Indira tells Mandira that she will not give her money to recharge her mobile phone until her exams are over. Indira is about to leave for work when her mother hands over an envelope to her. The envelope contains a notice which reads that the family was supposed to pay off their water dues of Rs 12000 that have been outstanding for about 10 years. The notice also mentions that the water connection would be soon cut off if the bill was not paid by the consecutive day. Indira gets further irritated when her mother states that they must talk to her father to help them out of the problem. However, Indira asserts that she will not take help from her father. Ishaan does not like the way Indira behaves with the family members. He believes that due to Indira's strict behavior, his father works at night so he can stay away from him. Indira plans to rent out a part of her house so that the rent can help her in running the household. She asks the local estate agent Radhey to search for tenants. Radhey manages to find a couple. However, Indira refuses to allow them to stay in her house as she suspects that the couple had eloped and got married. While reaching Ishaan to school, Indira refuses to take the shortcut as her father's shop was located in that area. She warns Ishaan to never take the lane. She adds that her spies would inform her if he comes from the lane. Indira drops Ishaan to school and leaves for work. Indira thinks to herself what Ishaan who has never seen her smile must be thinking about her. Indira reasons that she had not reason to smile in her life as she was surrounded by responsibilities which she had to manage in her meager salary. Indira hates reaching late for office. She has been receiving an award for the best employee. She also receives an amount of 2500 as a token. Completely opposite to Indira is Rishi who fun frolic person and lives live to the fullest. He is in search of an apartment in the city.
Weighed down considerably by the enormous responsibility of single-handedly providing for her large family, young Indira Sharma (played by Rati Pandey) throws herself into the daunting task and the well-being of her family becomes her sole agenda in life. In facing the daily challenges thrown her way on both the home and work front, she loses her sense of humour, her ability to feel finer emotions and becomes a regimental disciplinarian, a workaholic and a perfectionist who is almost always on the verge of losing her cool. Enter then, Rishi (played by Sumit Vats), a tenant whose sunny smile, light-hearted wit and jovial spirit comes like a breath of fresh air for a family that is beginning to feel exasperated under the reign of their Hitler Didi. Will sparks fly when such sharply contrasting personalities cross paths under the same roof? Will Rishi be successful in getting Indira to smile, dream and love all over again? Only time will tell!
